Crochet and Healing Hands

“Let me introduce to Hygeia .. the ancient Goddess of Healing.

In Greek and Roman mythology, Hygieia (also Hygiea or Hygeia, Greek Ὑγιεία or Ὑγεία, Latin Hygēa or Hygīa), was a daughter of the god of medicine, Asclepius. She was the goddess/personification of health (Greek: ὑγίεια – hugieia[1]), cleanliness and sanitation. She was the daughter of Asclepius and Epione.” (from Wikipedia)

You’ll find her statue on the entrance of the Acropolis in Athens, so she was very revered in her time. Also, at this moment in time She means a lot to me especially with what’s happening to Alex and indeed to each and everyone of  us, health is the richest asset one can possess. So I crocheted her and sent her off to a My Mate Mo as a thank you gift for “just being there”…

I cant tell you much fun I had making her and how quickly she worked up.. I just had to make another one for my Alex too

If you’d like to make one for someone you know that could do with a little cheering up or just simply have a little bit of fun with this project go to the link for the pattern.

In the meantime, I wish you all the very best of health!!!!

Lots of love Helen xxxxxxx
